Kobarid
Details
Kobarid is a pleasant little town that gained recognition during the First World War. The remnants of these difficult and bloody days that once befell the land of Soča river can be seen at the Museum of Kobarid (EMYA, 1993).
Kobarid is also famous for its excellent restaurants that
can exceed the expectations of the most demanding gourmets. A lunch in
Kobarid and a walk along the Kobarid historical trail to the waterfall
Kozjak make up a pleasant one-day excursion.
The Kobarid
municipality is comprised of the immediate vicinity of Kobarid
(Idrsko), Breginjski kot – famous for warm and beneficial waters of its
river
Nadiža; the ravine Trnovska soteska – the centre of Soča
rafting and kayaking, wonderful mountain villages under the mighty Krn
(Drežnica, Krn) and Livško, occupying the narrow place between Matajur
and Kolovrat at the border with neighbouring Italy.
Like other
places in the Soča valley, the Kobarid region can be proud of its
exceptionally rich natural heritage and a
wide array of possibilities for active vacationing.
